About Me

Hello, friends! Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself and my story.

My name is Marjolein Lloyd (Mar-yo-lane, if that helps!) and I am a Certified Life Cycle Celebrant®, having completed my training through the Celebrant Foundation and Institute.  I am also ordained with the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry which enables me to perform unique and personalized ceremonies across all faiths, religions, spiritual beliefs and cultures.

Ceremonies come in many forms – those that celebrate love and marriage, those that welcome a new member of the family, others that bless a home to be filled with new memories and treasures, and ceremonies that celebrate the life of those who we have lost. Gathering the stories, creating rituals and building a ceremony that allows you and your loved ones to honour the person, the couple or the home in a most respectful way is what my work is all about.

While my family and I reside in the Okanagan Valley, I love a good road trip and am more than happy to travel anywhere in this beautiful province of British Columbia to help tell your story. I am a firm believer that everyone’s story is unique and that their ceremony should reflect them and their vision.

My story didn’t start as a Celebrant. From September 2013 through to October 2023, I had the pleasure of serving the Central Okanagan as a Marriage Commissioner under contract with the province of British Columbia. In that time, I presided over more than 1100 weddings. Those ceremonies took place at almost every venue imaginable, from mountaintops to beaches, golf courses to wineries, and backyards to boats! They took place in the morning at sunrise or even at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve. Black tie, bathing suits, camping attire or theme weddings – I thought I may have seen it all! Different cultures, different languages, family traditions passed on from generations past, or couples creating new memorable traditions, every wedding was unique. I used to tell couples, “I think I’ve seen it all…until I get to the next wedding!”

Throughout those 10 years, I had the pleasure of building strong relationships with many vendors in the industry – planners, coordinators, DJs, musicians, photographers and venue staff. I learned more and more about how best to work with other vendors so that we as a team could help to create what each couple envisioned for their day.

Being a part of such a momentous occasion was never lost on me. It didn’t matter if it was a wedding with just the couple and their witnesses on a helicopter, the pair with their 300 favourite people in a ballroom, or standing with guests in snowshoes as we awaited the bride and groom to ski down the aisle. It had been an honour that I had been entrusted to be a part of their special day. Not gonna lie – it was a great gig! After 10 years, I just wasn’t ready to give it up!

And so now, as a Certified Life Cycle Celebrant®, and with years of experience and strong relationships built throughout the wedding industry and its vendors, I am thrilled to be able to offer a more personalized service for my clients. Looking for more info about what I offer?

Family & Community

Born in the Netherlands, I was raised on the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. My husband of over 24 years and I have built a wonderful life in the Okanagan. Our 3 children are now grown, and we enjoy time with them and our grandson. As entrepreneurs and business members of the community for over 25 years in the Kelowna and surrounding area, we firmly believe that you get back more than you put into your community.

One of my passions is community service.  Through my volunteer work, I have taken part in fundraising, service projects and facilitation.

  • A member of Rotary International for over 23 years and presently hold a leadership position with the organization.
  • Ambassador for ShelterBox Canada, a disaster relief organization.
  • Named Citizen of the Year (2019) and have been recognized with several service awards over the years.

In our spare time, my husband and I enjoy the outdoors year-round and love to travel when our work schedules allow.
